The year 2026 has not started on the best note for actor and politician Vijay. The actor’s final film, Jana Nayagan, missed its release date due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Meanwhile, Vijay is also under investigation in connection with the Karur stampede, which claimed several lives. While he was questioned by the CBI on Monday, Vijay has sought a deferment of further questioning to next week due to prior commitments, including efforts to secure the screening of his film Jana Nayagan and in view of the harvest festival Pongal.

Vijay requests to defer questioning

TVK general secretary C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar addressed the press after returning from Delhi, where he was questioned by the CBI in connection with the Karur stampede. “He (Vijay) appeared before the CBI as a witness in the Karur stampede case on January 12. He requested that the enquiry be held after Pongal, considering the festival and his film release. He will be informed about the next date for the enquiry,” Nirmal Kumar told reporters.
