The question was whether it was justified to call his father a failure on national TV just to prove a point about struggles to Gaurav Khanna. Amaal reacted, "There is no harm in being a failure; I was 15 years old, and he had said it to me. He has also mentioned it in many interviews that `I failed, but my sons gave me back the position in life.` I think I have the guts to forget about being image-conscious; I laid down my whole truth. I wanted to tell the truth. I think he failed in his journey, but he took failure beautifully. He came to support me when I had made a few mistakes. I feel that had my father not failed, I wouldn’t have had the hunger and passion to succeed. Due to our family name, people have a perception that we get things ready on a platter. I wanted to prove that it wasn’t the case. My father has said this multiple times earlier as well, so I don`t think I did anything wrong in stating the reality."
