Amid growing calls to boycott Turkey and Azerbaijan over geopolitical tensions, singer Rahul Vaidya has revealed that he turned down a lucrative offer to perform in Turkey. He claimed that he was offered Rs 50 lakh to sing at a wedding scheduled to take place on July 5 in Antalya. His decision came after Turkey openly expressed support for Pakistan amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a conversation with ETimes, Rahul Vaidya spoke about rejecting the offer, saying, “The offer was lucrative — they were paying me Rs 50 lakh. But I told them that no work, no money, and no fame can surpass the interest of the country. They even offered me more, but I made it clear that it wasn’t about the money. This issue is far more important than that. It’s not about me as an individual; it’s about the nation. And we have to stand by our nation."
