Sunil Grover began his career in the entertainment sector in the late 1990s, but he rose to prominence when he joined Kapil Sharma on Comedy Nights with Kapil in 2013. Sunil`s personalities on the show helped him become a household figure, and more than a decade later, he remains one of television`s most popular comedy actors. However, as Sunil was on the verge of landing the largest chance of his life, he was going through a difficult period. In a recent interview, actress Upasana Singh said that Sunil was hospitalised due to depression just before beginning work on Kapil`s show.
In a conversation with Lallantop Cinema, Upasana, who portrayed `Bua` on the show, revealed that the creative executives involved wanted to remove Sunil in the early days because they felt he couldn`t live up to the rest of the cast. “When he initially came in, he spoke at a slower pace. So the creative team on that show, wanted to fire him because they thought he couldn’t do it, and he couldn’t match up (to the rest of the cast). I told them then, and Sunil and all the others know about it, that he is a very good actor, you should keep him on,” she shared.
