As though aligned with its title, it has been a long way for the makers of Dongri to Dubai to get their series to screens. Conceptualised in 2020 before the makers had to pull the break on production work due to the pandemic, the shoot eventually resumed later in the year. It was pushed back again in April 2021, amid the second wave.

Shujaat Saudagar’s directorial venture will finally roll again in November in Madh Island, where an elaborate set resembling Dongri will soon be constructed.
A source tells mid-day, “There are a fair amount of crowd sequences to can. The actors are expected to join the shoot post Diwali. The makers decided to wait till the end of the monsoon season since the sets would have been affected.”
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production venture will chronicle the life of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. A screen adaptation of journalist Hussain Zaidi’s book, Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia, the series stars Avinash Tiwary, Kay Kay Menon and Kritika Kamra. They aim to wrap up work by the year-end to release it on Amazon Prime Video in 2022.
