Often, Kritika Kamra has expressed her desire to chase women-led stories. Saare Jahan Se Accha is an exception on that count. Led by Pratik Gandhi and Sunny Hinduja, the upcoming Netflix series is set in the 1970s and traces how an undercover Indian agent went to Pakistan to halt its nuclear program. Kamra says that she felt secure as an artiste to be part of the ensemble cast, knowing that her character contributes meaningfully to the story. “I have been part of women-led stories in the past.

But what matters to me is whether my role is impactful, and if the story is something I believe in. Saare Jahan Se Accha has an intense plot, and my character holds weight, even if the screen time isn’t long. I feel secure about where I stand in the project because I know my role matters. It’s not the length of a role, but its depth and purpose that excites me as an actor,” she states.

Sumit Purohit’s directorial venture is reportedly inspired by real-life intelligence and surveillance operations. The taut script was one of the reasons why Kamra gave her nod to the series. “What drew me in was how real and grounded the script felt,” she adds.
