Home Shanti delivers just that with its warm characters and a drama that is bound to win hearts with its family-centric storyline. Directed by Aakansha Dua, the slice-of-life drama revolves around the Joshi family’s long-harboured dreams of becoming homeowners for the first time. The series stars veteran actors Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa along with newbie actors Chakori Dwivedi, and Poojan Chhabra as the new generation of Joshis. Produced by Poshampa Pictures, Home Shanti offers viewers a heartwarming journey with its storyline. If you are looking forward to unwinding this weekend with a comfort watch, then here’s a look at all the reasons to add Home Shanti on Disney+ Hotstar to your watchlist.

Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa’s heartwarming pairing

Veteran actors Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa come together in Home Shanti to play a lovable couple with contrasting personalities. While Mrs Joshi is a stoic school principal, Mr Joshi is a fun-loving newspaper columnist who likes to pen poetry on the sidelines. They may seem poles apart, yet their love is young at heart as they can often be seen cuddling and sharing an ice cream tub in the middle of the night together.

Delectable slice-of-life drama

Being a delectable light-hearted drama, Home Shanti makes you emotional and also makes you laugh at making it the ultimate comfort soup. The hilarious life of the Joshis makes you feel at home instantly with each member delivering antics that make you want to see more of their life unravel. Be it Mr Joshi dropping poetries at the drop of the hat or Mrs Joshi’s cold stares at the face of her family’s idiosyncrasies, or Jigyasa Joshi refusing to be pulled down by her dumb brother, Naman Joshi’s pranks. They all come together to remind you of the joys of having a loving home.

Decoding the love-hate sibling relationship

Just like Tom and Jerry, siblings Jigyasa Joshi and Naman Joshi share a love-hate relationship. While Jigyasa, the elder, responsible and smarter sibling goes through life with a straight and serious face, Naman, her younger, jovial and a not-so-smart brother wishes to live life to the very fullest. Their sibling rivalry is much like any you would encounter at any home but in the series, the duo must meet in the middle to see their dream home become a reality.

An enduring tale of building your sapno ke makan

The quote, ‘If you can dream it, you can achieve it’ holds true for the Joshis as they have been dreaming of becoming homeowners for the past 25 years. Much like any Indian family they too want to build their sapno ka makan brick by brick on a plot of ancestral land that turns out to be too small to meet all their plans of expansive study rooms and separate bathrooms. But endure they must to finally live and breathe in a space they can call their own after decades of struggling in government employee housing.

Dehradun’s scenic landscapes

Aside from the Joshis, Home Shanti also casts Dehradun’s scenic landscapes, poignantly using it throughout the story to both aid and hinder the family’s dream home safar. Viewers will be treated to the majestic Dehradun hills and nuggets of the unique culture that inhabits its valley, making the show a delightful watch.
