With Mirzapur director Gurmmeet Singh’s next Paan Parda Zarda, one can expect a world of grit and crime. And strong women, points out Tanya Maniktala. The actor, who stars in the upcoming show alongside Tanvi Azmi, Mona Singh, and Priyanshu Painyuli, notes that the on-screen world of Mirzapur is populated by strong female characters — be it Shweta Tripathi’s Gajagamini Gupta or Rasika Dugal’s Beena Tripathi. She credits the creator for developing equally powerful female roles in Paan Parda Zarda. 

Maniktala shares, “Working with the maker of Mirzapur is rewarding. One of the most remarkable things about the show has been its women; characters like Gajagamini Gupta, Beena Tripathi, and Dimpy Pandit were all written with depth, strength, and complexity.
