While The Great Indian Kapil Show recently made waves with the comeback of Navjot Singh Sidhu, fans were quick to notice comic Rajiv Thakur`s absence. Rajiv was known for his amazing timing and camaraderie with Kapil Sharma, hence his absence prompted some issues. The comedian has now broken his silence on why he hasn`t been in the latest season.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Rajiv joked about the situation in his signature style: "Nobody takes rest in such a big show, obviously apko nikala gaya hoga," he added with a laugh, alluding to the nature of high-stakes ensemble shows.

Why was Rajiv dropped out of The Great Indian Kapil Show?

He then opened out about the genuine cause for his absence. "Dates did not match. They were calling in the middle, but I had prior commitments, and I don`t enjoy breaking them," Rajiv explained, adding that the show`s 55-minute runtime left little opportunity for him. Rajiv said, “In those 55 minutes, Kapil, Sunil Grover, and Krushna Abhishek have to perform their skits, there’s also the guest segment. There just wasn’t enough space left. And if you can’t do justice to a character, then what’s the point?"
