Seasoned actor Shefali Shah returns as DIG Vartika Chaturvedi, the steadfast Madam Sir, who begins investigating after her team comes across a truck full of girls, ready to be trafficked. 

On the other hand, Rasika Dugal as Neeti Singh has taken after Vartika and is in the middle of another case involving the assault of a 2-year-old girl, who is battling for her life at the hospital. 

Vartika goes by the hunch that both these cases are connected and gets cracking on a chilling network where girls have gone missing under the promise of jobs, being forced into marriages, children, and women being used as slaves, and disappearing into a country-wide web of deceit.

She locks horns with Badi Didi, played by Huma Qureshi. She is ruthless, invisible, and always one step ahead. 

Badi Didi is the elusive architect of the criminal empire who Vartika and her team are determined to bring down — setting the stage for a psychological face-off between two women who refuse to lose.

Amid all the hype surrounding the new season, Delhi Crime perhaps fails to match the lasting impact that season 1 had, if you’re going to compare. However, it does evoke emotions, especially the part where they say, “No one misses missing girls.”

The story is gripping from the get-go, with each character having evolved over the years. The chase has crossed state borders and the narrative asks tough questions pertaining to the safety of women. 

While the OG Delhi Police squad impresses as they reprise their roles, Huma steals the show this time around with her Haryanvi touch as the antagonist. 

With just six episodes, it doesn’t drag and keeps things crisp, enough for you to not skip or speed watch. However, there are certain sequences that will leave you with a lump in your throat. 

The series comes at a time when there’s a dire need of effective storytelling. It is far from what mainstream Bollywood has to offer and therefore deserves your time.
