On 11th July 2006, seven blasts took place within a span of 11 minutes in seven different local trains on the Western Railway line in Mumbai, bringing the urban transportation system of the city to a grinding halt. The 2006 Mumbai Train bombings tested the resilience of the city’s commuter train network.

After rescue operations were completed and forensic clearance was received, the rail network was partially restored within eight hours by 9-9:15 am.
