The body of a man with injury marks was found in a drain in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-man-stabbed-multiple-times-over-dispute-in-bhiwandi-23597739" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district</a>, the police said on Friday, reported news agency PTI.
Passersby alerted the police after spotting the body of the man, aged around 25, near the APMC Market in Kalyan on Thursday morning, an official said.
The nature of the injuries on the body suggests that the man, who is yet to be identified, was attacked with stones, though the actual cause of death will be known after autopsy, he said, reported PTI.
A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/rape-murder-accused-on-the-run-kills-7-year-old-girl-in-thane-district-23597175" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">murder case</a> has been registered and a probe is underway, he added.
<h2>Missing boy found dead in water tank in Thane</h2>
In another case, a 7-year-old boy, who went missing after going out for his classes, has been found dead in a water tank near his house in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Thursday, reported PTI.
The child resided with his parents in a building in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/accused-on-run-for-murder-in-thane-district-nabbed-from-new-delhi-after-13-years-23582424" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bhiwandi area</a>.
He went out for his Arabic classes at a mosque at around 6 pm on Tuesday, an official from Bhoiwada police station said quoting a complaint by the victim's father, a powerloom worker, reported PTI.
When the child did not return home by 7.30 pm, his parents launched a search and found him lying motionless in a water tank below the stairs of a neighbouring building on Tuesday night, the official said, reported PTI.
The boy was pulled out of the tank and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, he said.
It was yet to be ascertained how the boy fell into the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/thane-murder-accused-on-run-for-14-years-held-in-gujarat-23594623" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">water tank</a>, the police said, adding they have as of now registered a case of accidental death and were conducting a probe into it.
<h2>Man stabbed multiple times over dispute in Thane</h2>
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was severely injured after a person stabbed him multiple times following a heated argument in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Wednesday, reported PTI.
The incident occurred around 10.30 pm on October 5 near a gym at Anjur Phata in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra--four-held-for-killing-man-near-digha-railway-station-in-thane-over-monetary-dispute-23524035" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bhiwandi area</a>.
The accused believed that the victim's cousin had kidnapped his sister, an official from Narpoli police station said.
He got into an argument with the victim while they were chatting. The accused, in a fit of anger, pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed the victim several times, leaving him badly injured, the official said, reported PTI.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment, he said.
Based on a complaint by his family, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-court-sentences-septuagenarian-to-rigorous-imprisonment-for-life-for-wifes-murder-23576432" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Narpoli police</a> registered a case against the accused on various charges, including attempt to murder, and efforts were on to trace him, the official said.&nbsp;
