Mumbai Customs seize hydroponic weed worth Rs 14.5 cr at airport, one arrested

In a major drug bust, officials from the Airport Commissionerate of Mumbai Customs Zone-III seized 14.548 kilograms of suspected hydroponic weed, valued at approximately Rs 14.5 crore in the illicit market. The seizure was made during the intervening night of August 5 and 6 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

Acting on spot profiling, customs officers intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok on flight UL141. Upon examination of the passenger`s trolley bag, officers recovered the concealed narcotic substance.

The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
