The Mumbai <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/three-injured-after-test-drive-car-crashes-into-multiple-vehicles-falls-into-20-foot-construction-pit-in-maharashtras-thane-23620304" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Police</a> have arrested a man for abetment to suicide after a 24-year-old woman from Wadala was found dead at her home on March 9.
Officials from the Antop Hill police station said a case has been registered against the man under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint filed by the woman&rsquo;s family.
According to police, the woman was found unresponsive in her room by her parents on Sunday morning. She was rushed to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared her dead before admission.
In the complaint, the woman&rsquo;s father alleged that the accused had been in a relationship with his daughter and had subjected her to verbal abuse and humiliation.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-pune-businessman-kidnapped-for-50-lakh-ransom-rescued-by-police-five-held-23620306" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">family</a> claimed that the suspect allegedly made derogatory remarks about her character, causing severe emotional distress.
<h2>Note recovered</h2>
During the investigation, police recovered a six-page handwritten letter from the woman&rsquo;s room.
According to officials, the note indicates that the woman had been in a relationship with the accused for more than a year and was deeply affected by developments in the relationship.
In the note, she also apologised to her family for the pain her decision would cause and wrote that she felt overwhelmed and unable to cope with the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/supreme-court-permits-first-ever-passive-euthanasia-for-32-year-old-man-in-vegetative-state-for-12-years-23620322" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">situation</a>.
<h2>Police investigations underway</h2>
Police said the handwritten note has been sent for handwriting analysis as part of the investigation.
Following the complaint, officers registered an FIR and arrested the accused on Tuesday. He was produced before a court and remanded to one day of police custody.
Police said the accused works as an insurance broker, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
