Three men allegedly attacked the owner of a jewellery shop and looted gold worth Rs 3 lakh from the store in Ghatkopar area of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-weather-update-yellow-alert-issued-for-several-districts-in-maharashtra-amid-scorching-heat-23598842" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai</a> on Wednesday, police said on Wednesday, reported the PTI.
One more person with them also carried a gun, which he was seen wielding outside the shop, an official said.
"The incident occurred around 10.30 am at the shop located in Ghatkopar's Amrut Nagar area. Three persons entered the outlet and threatened the shop owner with a knife. They robbed gold worth Rs 3 lakh, but when he tried to resist their attempt, they attacked him before fleeing from the spot," he said, according to the PTI.
Based on the complaint filed by the owner, a case was registered at the Ghatkopar police station, he said.
Two accused were arrested within hours after they attacked the owner of a jewellery shop and looted the gold and search was on for the third suspect in the case, an official said.
"The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-former-eknatn-shinde-led-shiv-sena-corporators-husband-attacked-in-mumbais-jogeshwari-3-booked-23598671" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">police</a> have multiple formed teams to investigate the case. Two suspects have been nabbed and their interrogation was on," he said.&nbsp;
One held for stealing gold, silver ornaments worth Rs 56.68 lakh from train passenger
Meanwhile, in an another incident, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had last week arrested a man for allegedly stealing gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 56.68 lakh from a passenger on a moving train, an official said on Saturday, the PTI reported.
Accused was identified as Radhe Gajju Bisone, the police said, adding that he had allegedly stole a bag containing valuables belonging to a passenger, Pradeepkumar Dharmpal Singh, while he was onboard the train.
He was travelling on the Mumbai-Howrah Mail <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/diwali-2025-western-railway-to-run-special-train-between-valsad-and-hisar-for-diwali-and-chhath-puja-23598835" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">train</a> when the incident took place near Nashik district in Maharashtra last week on Friday.
Acting on Singh's complaint, RPF launched a search to nab the culprit and recover the belongings.
A team of police officials while investigating the matter later zeroed in on Bisone when the train was on its way to Manmad.
The RPF team checked Bisone's belongings and found Singh's bag containing over 50 tolas of gold and silver, worth Rs 56.68 lakh, the official said, according to the PTI.
