A heart-breaking incident, a woman abandoned her six-month-old infant at Virar Railway Station near <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-police-raids-fake-call-centre-cheating-americans-from-goregaon-nabs-13-suspects-23594268" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai</a>.
According to sources, the woman handed over the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/38-year-old-aristocrat-boyfriend-jailed-for-14-years-over-death-of-newborn-daughter-in-united-kingdom-23594188" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">baby </a>to a female commuter on a Virar&ndash;Dahanu Mumbai local, claiming she was going to the ladies&rsquo; restroom.
When she failed to return, the commuter informed the station master, who repeated announcements. However, no one came forward to claim the child.
The complainant, an officer from the Maharashtra Security Force posted with the Railway Security Force in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/virar-building-collapse-death-toll-climbs-to-15-after-3-more-bodies-recovered-23591408" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Virar</a>, was alerted about the baby by the female passenger. Following this, the Vasai Railway Police registered a case against the unidentified woman and launched an investigation.
