In response to the nationwide general strike called by central trade unions, including the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), the National Railway Trade Union (NRTMU) has announced it will organise peaceful solidarity programmes across Central Railway on July 9, 2025. The move follows directives issued by the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) in its communication dated July 2, 2025.
NRTMU (Central and Konkan Railways) has directed its divisional and branch units to carry out demonstrations, gate meetings, and rallies in a disciplined and orderly manner. The union has assured that these activities will not disrupt railway operations and will be conducted in coordination with local administration, in line with the democratic principles of trade union expression.
The solidarity programmes coincide with a nationwide strike protesting what unions describe as anti-worker and anti-people policies introduced by the central government. All major national trade unions, barring the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), have endorsed the strike.
