The BJP has doubled its presence in Maharashtra’s civic bodies. After the 2025 municipal council elections, it has over 3300 corporators, more than double the 1600-odd councillors it had in 2017.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the BJP has strengthened its position since the last civic elections. “In 2017, the BJP was the number one party even then. We are number one now as well. But the difference is much bigger. Last time, we had around 1600 corporators. This time, the number has crossed 3300,” he said.
