Mumbai airport checks over past two months catch 28 NRIs allegedly flying in with Indian voter ID cards despite their foreign citizenship; India does not allow dual citizenship

Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, immigration officials at Mumbai International Airport have intercepted around 28 non-resident Indians over the past two months for allegedly carrying Indian voter ID cards despite holding foreign citizenship.
Immigration officials seized the voter ID cards and informed the Election Commission of India, which has initiated the process to cancel them. Most of those caught are citizens of countries such as Canada, the United States, Nepal, and Australia.
