A massive fire broke out at a popular eatery in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-textile-processing-unit-in-thane-district-23586100" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane district</a> on Tuesday morning, officials said, reported news agency PTI.
There was no report of any casualty, they said.
The blaze erupted around 7 am at KGN Biryani Shop located in Lodha Palava on Shilphata Road in Kalyan area and quickly spread, gutting the premises, the fire officials said, reported PTI.
Residents noticed thick smoke while on their way to work and raised an alarm.
Personnel from the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-bmw-car-catches-fire-near-kasarvadavali-signal-no-injuries-reported-23589744" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dombivli fire department</a> rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze within an hour, the officials said, reported PTI.
The wooden furniture, refrigerators and raw food materials inside the shop were destroyed, they said.
Traffic on the busy Shilphata Road was disrupted as vehicles were diverted, leading to temporary jams, reported PTI.
The cause of the fire was suspected to be a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-thane-high-rise-no-casualties-reported-23562505" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">technical fault</a> or short-circuit, but an investigation was underway, the officials said.
<h2>Smoke in MSRTC bus wheel in Thane; 13 passengers evacuated</h2>
In another incident, thirteen passengers travelling by an MSRTC's electric bus had to be evacuated after smoke was detected in one of its wheels in Maharashtra's Thane city on Tuesday morning, officials said, reported PTI.
The passengers were later accommodated in another bus by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-destroys-28-electricity-meters-in-thane-residential-building-23586328" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation</a> (MSRTC) officials, they said.
Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said they received information at 9.50 am about smoke emanating from one of the rear wheels of the MSRTC's electric Shivshahi bus on the road connecting Cadbury signal to Khopat depot, reported PTI.
The bus was on its way from Borivali in Mumbai towards the neighbouring Nashik district.
"There were 13 passengers on board, of whom 10 were headed to Nashik and three to Thane. All the passengers were evacuated safely and no one was injured," Tadvi said, reported PTI.
Firefighters and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-thane-scrapyard-no-injuries-reported-23556030" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">disaster management personnel</a> used hose reels to spray water on the wheel to contain the smoke, he said, reported PTI.
The affected bus was later towed away. Traffic on the busy route was not affected by the incident, he added.
