A fire erupted at an X-Ray department room at Sion hospital in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/tarot-card-reader-extortion-case-four-more-held-by-aarey-police-in-mumbai-probe-ongoing-say-officials-23623429" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai</a> at around 11:57 am on Tuesday, civic officials said, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the hospital dean, Dr. Pramod Ingale, the fire was caused by a blast in the air conditioning unit. Thick smoke rose from the area, creating a brief panic among patients and staff.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, he said.
"The fire was confined to AC Unit of X-Ray department," officials said.
<h2>Thick smoke creates panic</h2>
"The was a blast in the AC due to which the fire broke out. The thick smoke went upwards which did create a bit of panic. However, no human was injured. There is no damage to any equipment. However, there are minor damages to the infrastructure. All patients have been moved to a safe spot," Dr. Ingale said.
There was no damage to medical equipment, although minor structural damage occurred. All patients were safely moved to a secure <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-rains-two-dead-in-lightning-incidents-as-unseasonal-rains-hit-jalna-parts-of-maharashtra-23623427" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">location</a>, the official said.
<h2>Fire extinguished</h2>
The Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.
