On 26 January 1950, India adopted its Constitution, officially becoming a sovereign, democratic republic. In simple words, Indians were no longer ruled by a monarch or any foreign authority; instead, we began to be governed under laws created by our own people. This day celebrates the supreme law of India—the Constitution—which guarantees justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity to all citizens.

Today, we witness grand parades across the country, with Kartavya Path in Delhi being the highlight. Flags are hoisted, patriotic songs fill the air, jets soar across the sky, and bands echo the spirit of the nation. Yet true patriotism is not limited to these displays; it is felt deep within the heart. It is shown when we honour the nation’s values, remember its heroes, and respect the Constitution.
