HSC result declines by 1.49 per cent this year, girls continue to shine

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Monday declared the results for the Class 12 examinations conducted in FebruaryndashMarch 2025 The overall pass percentage declined by 14937 compared to last yearThe overall pass percentage for 2025 was 918837In 2024 the pass percentage was 933737Girls continued to shine in the 2025 examination as in previous years across almost all divisionsA total of 1427905 students from all divisions Pune Nagpur Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Mumbai Kolhapur Amravati Nashik Latur and Konkan registered under the regular category Of these 1419969 students appeared and 1329684 passed leading to a pass percentage of 933737 Among repeater students 199123 registered 191089 appeared and 122712 passed resulting in a 642337 pass rate The Konkan division recorded the highest pass percentage at 964737 while Latur had the lowest at 924837Among 701324 boys who appeared 653247 passed Out of 626672 girls 610934 passed Girls recorded a pass percentage of 974837 outperforming boys who registered a 931537 pass rate mdash a gap of 43337 Specially abled students received grace marks as per government provisions Thirtyone subjects achieved a 10037 pass percentageIn streamwise performance the Science stream recorded a 968537 pass rate in 2025 up from 960937 in 2023 and 2024 Commerce improved to 921837 from 897937 while Arts rose to 858837 from 840537 The MCVC stream registered an 876937 pass rate Overall the pass percentage rose to 933737 marking an increase of 21237 over the previous yearAccording to board officials data revealed that girls shone across all nine divisionsSpeaking at the press conference Sharad Gosavi President of the State Board said ldquoStringent action against copying cases may be one of the reasons for the decline in the result percentage The board has taken vigilant steps against cheating A similar declining trend in the pass percentage was also reported during 2022ndash23rdquoThe HSC board result
