A 34-year-old labourer was electrocuted at a construction site in Thane district’s Govegaon area on July 30, police said on Sunday. The victim died on the spot after accidentally touching a live wire.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother, police have registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) against two contractors, Manoj Dilip Patil and Murali Yadav. The complaint alleges that no safety measures were in place for workers at the site. No arrests have been made so far, officials confirmed, according to news agency PTI.
In another tragic incident, a 22-year-old IIT-Bombay student was found dead after allegedly falling from a hostel building on the Powai campus. The incident came to light early Saturday morning. Powai Police, who are investigating the case, said the preliminary medical assessment suggests the student died between 2 am and 2:30 am. The exact time will be confirmed through the post-mortem report.
