As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the total water stock in the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai reached 1,069,357 million litres on Friday. This is 73.88 per cent of the total required stock for the season.

Among these, Modak Sagar has become the first reservoir to overflow, after reaching 100 per cent of its capacity. The Bhatsa has 4.6 lakh ML (64.21 per cent) water content, followed by the Middle Vaitarna with 1.79 lakh ML (92.87 per cent), and Upper Vaitarna with 1.68 lakh ML (74.02 per cent). The Upper Vaitarna has been releasing water since July 5.
