The Maharashtra government has announced a complete toll waiver for all four-wheeler electric passenger vehicles and buses on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Atal Setu, and Samruddhi Mahamarg. Besides complete toll exemption, a 50 per cent toll concession will be given on other state and national highways under the jurisdiction of the state Public Works Department (PWD). This comes as the state cabinet on Tuesday approved the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy, 2025.
With an aim to push for green mobility and encourage usage of EVs, the state government, besides announcing toll waivers, has exempted all electric vehicles sold and registered in the state from motor vehicle tax and registration certificate or renewal fees. Moreover, the government will offer discounts on the purchase of EVs till 2030.
