In a major crackdown on electricity theft, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has registered a case against a Nerul resident for allegedly tampering with the power supply and stealing electricity worth over Rs 56,900. Including pending dues, the total financial loss to MSEDCL stands at Rs 82,850.

The accused, Kanchan Kambha Thakur, was found illegally drawing electricity at her residence in Plot No. 14, Flat No. 302, Sector 14, Kukshetgaon, Nerul, by bypassing the disconnected meter and tapping directly into the main line.
