According to the Kalwa police, the deceased have been identified as Dilip Salvi, 57, and his wife Pramila, 52. The police said that the couple stayed with their son Prasad, 25, and that the father and son were in the construction business.
“At around 10.30 pm on Friday, Pramila called Prasad, who was at work, and told him that Dilip was fighting with her. He rushed home and was just getting off his motorcycle when he heard a gunshot,” said an official with the Kalwa police station. Both were rushed to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, where they were declared dead before admission. Meanwhile, the Kalwa police reached the spot to conduct inquiries.
Officials said that Dilip was the younger brother of Ganesh Salvi, ex-mayor of the Thane Municipal corporation. Dilip, who was suffering from high blood sugar, would often have arguments with his wife.

“Pramila was shot at point blank range, while Dilip suffered brain haemorrhage, resulting in instantaneous death,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ganesh Gawde, Zone I, Thane police.
While sources said that the couple would often have fights because Dilip suspected Pramila of infidelity, Gawde said that the matter was still under investigation. “We are recording statements from family members and have not reached a conclusion as yet,” said Gawde.
