Two teenaged boys reportedly drowned in a water filled pit in Vasai in Palghar district in Maharashtra on Saturday, a civic official said, reported the PTI.

The incident took place in Fatherwadi when a group of five children entered the pit to swim, the official said.
"Two of them, identified as Amit Sharma and Abhishek Sharma, aged 13 and 14, drowned and their bodies were fished out. However, the remaining three boys are missing. We don't know if they drowned or ran away from the spot," he said, as per the PTI.
Valiv police have registered a case of accidental death, the official added.
Two school students drown in quarry pond in Kerala
In an another incident in Kerala, At least two school children met a tragic end after drowning in a stone quarry pond in Thrikkodithanam in this district on Saturday, reported the PTI.
The students hailing from Ponpuzhakkunnu, were studying in class 10 and six in a local school.
According to police, tragedy struck when they were catching fish in a quarry pond.
It is suspected that one of the children fell into the water initially. The other one also slipped into the water while trying to rescue his friend, they said, as per the PTI.
After being informed by the local, police and fire and rescue personnel rushed to the area and launched a search in the pond.
The bodies of the hapless children were fished out after some time., police added.
Meanwhile, two minors drowned in a river in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district on Friday, police said, the PTI had earlier reported.
According to the PTI, Anex Kujur, 10, and his friend Aron Kujur, 13, were drowning while bathing in the Koel river. On seeing this, Anex's father Rajesh Ranjan Kujur, an Army veteran, jumped into the river to save them.
Rajesh could pull out his son in time, but failed to save himself and Aron, police said, the news agency had reported on Friday.
The incident happened in Indiranagar village in the Manoharpur police station area.
Police said they were investigating the incident.
