Woman, her new born baby dies at Bhandup hospital, ex-corporator demands action

A 26yearold woman and her new born baby boy allegedly died due to the lack of basic facilities at a maternity home in Bhandup area of MumbaiThe family of the woman and a Bharatiya Janata Party BJP excorporator Jagruti Patil has raised the issue claiming there was no light at the medical facility that led to the deaths The delivery was done with the help of a torch the family of the deceased woman claimedJagruti Patil has given an complaint to the Bhandup Police Station and local Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC health department to take strict action against the authorities for alleged negligenceShe claimed this may be the fourth incident at the hospital and strict action must be taken by the officials she saidMeanwhile a viral video of the maternity home in Bhandup with no lights has raised questions about the lack of facilitiesThe unfortunate incident took place at the Sushma Swaraj Maternity Hospital of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC in Hanuman Nagar Bhandup west division at Monday night due to negligence of Municipal Corporation doctors and the death of a woman and a baby was cause It was around 1230 am when I received the call informing about the incident The baby boy who was weighing around 375 kg was reported dead When I reached the hospital the woman had been shifted to Sion hospital The family received a call at 1 am informing that the woman is dead Patil saidThe woman S Ansari had delivered a baby boy for the first timeThe family claims they did the operation on torch It was horribly The family claims the woman had heavy bleeding that lead to her death If there was no light they would have shifted her to Sion hospital or suggested the family to take her to a private hospital rather than taking the risk that led to her death The senior officials of Bhandup Police Station were also called to the hospital for inquiry at night The newborn baby and his mother lost their lives due to doctors negligence and we are demanding immediate action against the doctors added PatilPatil further claimed that earlier too a nurse was booked for putting cello tape on kids mouth as he was crying a lotA case was registered after two years in the matter The concerned dean and doctors are responsible for the same and immediate action is needed she said while stating that she met the health department of BMC and filed a complaint about the same demanding strict action against the concerened in the matterMeanwhile the family members have claimed that the deceased woman was completely fine for past nine months and questioned what led to her sudden deathShe was normal for nine months with no health issues then how come she was declared dead all of a sudden and especially on the same night when she was brought to the hospital If such are the facilities what is the use of the government hospitals in city said the brother of the deceased womanWhen contacted Dattaray Khandagale senior police inspector of Bhandup police station he was unavailable for comment
