Mumbai BJP President says, must penalise contractors who failed citizens

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directs all administrative offices to remain on alert; calls on officers to work even on Saturdays and Sundays. A brief spell of rain flooded subways and several arterial roads in Mumbai. Similar situations were reported in Pune and other parts of the state.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday chaired a disaster management meeting in Mumbai, which was attended by senior officials from Mantralaya, the BMC, and other departments concerned. Meanwhile, Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar demanded imposing penalties on negligent contractors.

The meeting assumes significance as pre-monsoon showers on Tuesday evening exposed Maharashtra’s preparedness for the rains. Multiple cities, including Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, and Pune, faced waterlogging. A brief spell of rain flooded subways and several arterial roads in Mumbai. Similar situations were reported in Pune and other parts of the state.
