<p>With her first photo exhibition, Of Love, Care &amp; Coexistence, that opens at the gallery space in Mani Bhavan, Gamdevi today, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-residents-struggle-for-safe-access-as-santacruz-footpath-dug-up-23598737" rel="nofollow">Santacruz</a>-based photographer Sarika Nerurkar (above) tells the story of animal lovers across India. &ldquo;As a feeder in the lockdown, I know the challenges animal lovers face. While searching for a subject, my father suggested that I pursue what I love,&rdquo; Nerurkar said.</p>

<p>Shot over the span of almost two years, the exhibition features over 30 photographs highlighting seven such individuals from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ranikhet and Dehradun; and unravels some interesting observations. &ldquo;I learned how villages take care of streeties, naturally. It is just that they lack awareness of medical care,&rdquo; she shared.</p>

<p>The AsiaNOW Art Fair in Paris on October 22 will have some Indian threads woven into its aesthetic narrative. Milaaya Art Gallery will present their curated exhibition, Sutradhar, featuring four contemporary artists: Nilima Sheikh, Nikhil Chopra, Manjunath Kamath, and Ranbir Kaleka.</p>

<p>&ldquo;Sutradhar brings together the voices of artists and artisans in a shared act of storytelling. Each work reveals how hand embroidery, in its depth and tactility, can carry emotion, history, and imagination with equal force,&rdquo; shared founder, Gayatri Khanna (above).</p>
<h2>Clean-up the city, on your feet</h2>

<p>The festive season is here, and with it, an abundance of clutter and garbage littering. With this in mind, Kalyan-based caf&eacute; Snickerdoodle Coffeeworks and run club, Run O&rsquo;Clock, are hosting Run for a Cause 4K on October 26, a post-festive clean-up event. Disha Chandak, a team member from Snickerdoodle, told this diarist, &ldquo;After Diwali, there&rsquo;s almost always waste left over in places, such as from firecrackers. This is a way of giving back to the neighbourhood. Participants will be divided into five teams; each led by a leader, and will run through <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sunday-mid-day/article/byculla-walking-trail-explore-unique-aspects-of-the-neighbourhood-that-not-only-boasts-of-rani-baug-but-more-23581253" rel="nofollow">Rambaug</a>, and beyond. During this, they will collect trash anywhere they spot it, and also at a scheduled site, where a more extensive clean-up will be held separately. The team that gathers the most waste by weight will be rewarded. Plus, every participant will be offered a Special Cold Brew and beverages on-the-house.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Mulund sways to a different melody</h2>

<p>Residents of Mulund had a golden opportunity this week on Monday, to witness a musical performance by Pradipto Sengupta (below), a veteran of the mandolin, as well as the rabab and bouzuki. The show introduced audiences to an intriguing set of stringed instruments. This diarist caught up with Sengupta, who shared, &ldquo;The programme was designed around musicians, instead of singers. I performed my song entirely on the mandolin, and introduced and demonstrated it to the audience. Actor Vighnesh Joshi was on stage too, taking a live interview of me. People were elated. They had heard the song before, but it was the first time they learnt how crucial an instrument is to any song.&rdquo;</p>
