<p>As the city readies for possibly an early monsoon, many Mumbaikars will be on the lookout for activities centred on art and literature where they can stay safe and dry. In this regard, the Paperback Literature Festival comes as good news, when it kicks off on June 22. The festival is open to kids and adults.</p>

<p>Rahul Saini, its organiser, shared, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s our book club&rsquo;s fourth anniversary and what better than getting readers, writers, artists and everyone else under one roof?&rdquo; This is the fifth season of the festival, and it will take place at OF10 Powai. He added, &ldquo;Our key highlight, among the 20-plus activities, is a debate competition.&rdquo; The activities include sessions where participants can engage in pottery, graphology, caricature, on-the-spot poetry and origami. Look out for the art and writing corners too.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Spurs fans have the last laugh</h2>

<p>While English club football team Tottenham Hotspur celebrated their Europa League title with an open bus celebration in London last weekend, city-based comedian Joel D&rsquo;Souza preferred a walk down memory lane. Still recovering from cheering his team out loud at a local screening, D&rsquo;Souza recalled a special meeting with club legends Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles in 2023.</p>

<p>&ldquo;The duo was in the city for a fan meet, and I was fortunate enough to receive a jersey with my name on the back as a gift. It was an important moment for me, given that I have been a fan of the club since I was nine years old. The win had been a long time coming, especially following multiple last-minute upsets in the past. Seventeen years is a long time to wait for any fan,&rdquo; D&rsquo;Souza told us.</p>
<h2>Juggle with new skills</h2>

<p>Children from David Sassoon Children&rsquo;s School are having the most productive summer vacation, thanks to the Ashiyana Foundation, which organises workshops and events for them. They recently organised a juggling session where Ami Shroff, a juggler and flair bartender, guided children on how to balance objects. She said, &ldquo;The children picked up the skill pretty quickly, and they enjoyed what they were doing. I made sure that the workshop was not very educational and kept it fun. Juggling helps exercise the mind and body as you have to balance the objects. &nbsp;It&rsquo;s very therapeutic and helps in concentration,&rdquo; Kadambari Dube, the centre head of the foundation, said, &ldquo;This activity helped them learn to be stable.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Pedalling a healthy idea in Worli</h2>

<p>We&rsquo;re used to spotting young party-goers stumbling out of clubs at odd hours in the city, but on our late night drive through Worli last weekend, we were in for a healthy surprise. A group of cyclers had pedalled all the way from Colaba, and made the Worli Sea Face promenade their pitstop. This diarist learned that LiveB4YouDie, the collective helming the adventure, organises midnight tours in SoBo regularly. When we stopped by to catch a glimpse of an ice-breaker activity, tour leader Harsh Mali revealed, &ldquo;We&rsquo;re taking a breather before we cycle back to Colaba. Our goal is to open Mumbaikars&rsquo; eyes to the city&rsquo;s beauty, post the dreaded rush hours.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Beauty in the mundane</h2>

<p>Last week, Mooz, aka Raj Pathare, spotted an old piece of furniture in a trash bin at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai and made it into a boombox-like showpiece. He said, &ldquo;I spotted a discarded piece of furniture while I was in the area. Usually, I look for walls where I can make graffiti. But this time, the abandoned furniture caught my attention. I immediately decided to do something about it. I returned to the same spot the next day with my colours. The furniture was shaped similar to a boombox or speaker. I decided to make it colourful because it was surrounded by a lot of trash.
