A fire broke out at a residential building in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-on-7th-floor-of-23-storey-building-in-dahisar-no-injuries-reported-23592864" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Goregaon</a> on Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
According to the civic body, the blaze originated in the common meter box of a G+5 residential building at Shalimar Building, Siddhi Ganesh Society, S V Road, Road No. 04, Goregaon (West).
The incident was reported at 12:18 PM by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). A Level I fire was declared at 12:25 PM, and emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the site.
The operation involved BMC&rsquo;s MFB, local police, BMC ward staff, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-at-crackers-shop-in-malad-operations-underway-23592515" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Public Works Department</a> (PWD), 108 Ambulance services, and Adani Electricity. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which appears to have started from the building&rsquo;s common meter box. Residents were evacuated as a precaution, and the situation was brought under control without any casualties.
<h2>Fire at food shop in Thane; no casualty</h2>
In another incident, a massive fire broke out at a popular eatery in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday morning, officials said, reported PTI.
There was no report of any casualty, they said.
The blaze erupted around 7 am at <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-blaze-reported-from-parking-area-of-dadar-terminus-23592357" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">KGN Biryani Shop</a> located in Lodha Palava on Shilphata Road in Kalyan area and quickly spread, gutting the premises, the fire officials said, reported PTI.
Residents noticed thick smoke while on their way to work and raised an alarm.
Personnel from the Dombivli fire department rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze within an hour, the officials said, reported PTI.
The wooden furniture, refrigerators and raw food materials inside the shop were destroyed, they said.
Traffic on the busy <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-at-residential-high-rise-building-in-borivali-operations-underway-23591610" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Shilphata Road</a> was disrupted as vehicles were diverted, leading to temporary jams, reported PTI.
The cause of the fire was suspected to be a technical fault or short-circuit, but an investigation was underway, the officials said.
Meanwhile, a fire at an ONGC gas processing plant at Uran in neighbouring Navi Mumbai has impacted MGL's gas supply to its city gate station at Wadala, while the supply to CNG stations may also be affected, officials said.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-level-2-blaze-reported-on-12th-floor-of-goregaon-high-rise-dousing-operation-on-23590907" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mahanagar Gas Limited</a> (MGL) is ensuring the supply to its domestic PNG (piped natural gas) consumers is maintained as a priority without interruption, the officials said on Monday.
