Mumbai is set for a major traffic transformation as CM Devendra Fadnavis announces an extensive underground tunnel network aimed at raising the city’s average speed to 80 kmph by 2032. The plan includes tunnels linking Bandra Sea Link, BKC and Mumbai Airport for faster travel

Mumbai is gearing up for a major network of underground tunnels to ensure that in the next seven years the average speed of Mumbai reaches 80 kmph, which currently averages around 15 to 20 kmph during peak hours.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “We are creating Pathal Lok (beneath the ground tunnel network) to address Mumbai`s traffic issue.” The CM replied with this while addressing a gathering of youth at an event held at the Dome in Worli.
