Water levels in 7 lakes supplying water to Mumbai at 11.77 per cent

Even though the monsoon arrived early this year on May 25, 2025, the catchment areas of these seven lakes have not received sufficient rainfall, leading to the deficit. In the past 24 hours, between 6 am on June 4 and 6 am on June 5, none of the seven lakes received any rainfall, according to the BMC data

The average water stock in the seven lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai dipped to 11.77 per cent (1.7 lakh million litres) on Thursday morning, significantly lower than 22.66 per cent recorded one month ago, on May 5, 2025.

At full capacity, the lakes can hold 14.5 lakh million litres of water.

On Wednesday, June 4, the lake levels were recorded at 12.14 per cent (1.75 lakh million litres).
