<p>The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-updates-overcrowding-fears-rise-as-central-railway-approves-100-hawkers-to-operate-23624884" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Central Railway</a> has announced a mega block on its suburban network on Sunday, April 12, 2026, to carry out essential engineering and maintenance works. The block will impact services on both the Main Line and Harbour Line for several hours during the day.</p>
<h2>Main Line block between CSMT and Vidyavihar</h2>
<p>A block will be in place on the Up and Down slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Vidyavihar from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm.</p>
<p>During this period, Down slow services departing CSMT between 10:48 am and 3:45 pm will be diverted to the fast line between <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-central-railways-siddheshwar-express-completes-50-years-of-service-between-solapur-and-mumbai-23624685" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">CSMT</a> and Vidyavihar. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla stations before being redirected to the slow line at Vidyavihar.</p>
<p>Similarly, Up slow services leaving Ghatkopar between 10:19 am and 3:52 pm will be diverted onto the fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, halting at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.</p>
<h2>Harbour Line services to remain suspended</h2>
<p>On the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-central-railway-removes-speed-restriction-on-asvali-padli-section-boosts-train-safety-and-speed-23624383" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Harbour Line</a>, services will be suspended on key stretches. Down Harbour services from CSMT towards Chunabhatti and Bandra will be affected from 11:40 am to 4:40 pm, while Up Harbour services towards CSMT from Chunabhatti and Bandra will be affected from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.</p>
<p>Additionally, trains from CSMT towards Vashi, Belapur and Panvel between 11:16 am and 4:47 pm will remain suspended. Services from CSMT towards Bandra and Goregaon between 10:48 am and 4:43 pm will also not operate.</p>
<p>Up Harbour services from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi between 9:53 am and 3:20 pm, as well as from Goregaon and Bandra between 10:45 am and 5:13 pm, will remain suspended.</p>
<h2>Special trains and alternate travel options</h2>
<p>To mitigate inconvenience, special services will run between Panvel and Kurla (Platform 8) during the block period. Passengers travelling on the Harbour Line will be allowed to use alternative routes via the Main Line and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-update-cr-undertakes-rs-16000-crore-infra-push-gears-up-for-nashik-kumbh-2027-23623863" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Western Railway</a> between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.</p>
<h2>Maintenance work essential for safety</h2>
<p>Railway officials said the mega block is necessary for infrastructure upkeep and operational safety. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect delays during the affected hours.</p>
