Following a mid-day report that highlighted the danger posed by exposed iron rods jutting out of the cement concrete (CC) road at Aarey Milk Colony, the Public Works Department (PWD) has taken partial remedial action. Danger tapes have now been placed on the rods, and some have been levelled along the road surface.

Speaking to mid-day, Kunal C said, “Soon after the article was published, the PWD authorities seemed to have woken up. Within a couple of days, they placed danger tapes on the exposed rods and levelled some of them along the road. Two barricades have also been installed near the CC road. I believe the contractor responsible for the construction should prioritise safety to prevent such hazards.”

On July 29, mid-day reported in a story titled ‘At Aarey Milk Colony, a disaster in waiting’ highlighted that the internal road construction at Aarey Milk Colony was partially complete, but authorities had failed to address sharp metal rods protruding from the surface. These pose a serious risk to motorists, especially bikers, prompting locals to question whether action will only be taken after a major accident.
