A newly-inducted Mumbai Monorail rake suffered minor damage during a trial run near the Wadala Depot station, officials said. Only the train captain and an engineer from Medha SMH Rail Pvt. Ltd. were onboard at the time.
Preliminary information suggests the incident occurred due to non-availability of signalling equipment during testing. As the system could not detect the rake’s exact position, the operations control room reportedly moved the guideway beam switch while the train was still on the switch point, causing the mishap.
