Motorists forced to take long detours as waterlogging shuts subway two days in a row; the underpass was designed and built by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation for the Aqua Line tunnel entry near the Aarey car shed

Heavy rain for the second consecutive day brought traffic to a standstill at Aarey Milk Colony, as the arterial vehicular underpass connecting Picnic Point with Marol was shut due to severe waterlogging. The subway had also been closed on Monday for the same reason, forcing motorists to take long alternate routes to reach Marol.
Aarey resident Vasim Athaniya said, “I don’t understand why this underpass was planned so badly that just a few hours of rainfall lead to flooding. This is nothing but a waste of taxpayers’ money. Today, to reach my office in Marol, I had to go all the way via Powai because of the closure.”
