Every Sunday, Central Railway halts select suburban services for essential Mega Block operations. These scheduled pauses enable over 500 workers to inspect, repair, and upgrade tracks, signals, and overhead wires, ensuring safer, smoother journeys for commuters

What happens on a Sunday mega block on CR
Central Railway’s suburban rail network, spread over CSMT to Karjat –Khopoli and Kasara on the main line, CSMT to Panvel/ Bandra on the Harbour line, Thane to Panvel on the Trans Harbour line and Nerul / Belapur to Uran on the Port line, runs over 1810 Suburban train services daily on its vast 325 km Suburban network. It also runs more than 210 Mail & Express trains on the Main lines daily.
Suburban services start from the first train starting its journey at 02.06 hrs to the last train reaching its destination at 02.30 hrs, serving people and ensuring a safe and smooth journey for all. This implies that the train services operate around the clock and more than 40 lakh people travel daily in these trains
