Wadala police book minor boy after sister’s hospital visit reveals sexual abuse

Medical report of 16-year-old confirms pregnancy; legal experts cite POCSO’s applicability even to juvenile offenders; according to the police, the brother sexually abused his sister for a year

The Wadala TT police on Wednesday booked a 15-year-old boy for allegedly sexually abusing his 16-year-old sister over several months. The matter came to light when the girl complained of severe stomach pain and was taken to KEM Hospital by family members. During the medical examination, it was revealed that she was two months pregnant. The hospital authorities immediately informed the police.

Following this, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, took the accused brother into custody, and sent him to the Dongri Correction Home. According to the police, the brother sexually abused his sister for a year.
