Parts of the city experienced pre-monsoon showers on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a fresh yellow alert on Monday for the city, which is in effect for Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts until Wednesday.

According to the weather bureau, light showers were expected to begin on Monday, gradually intensifying into thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and moderate rainfall on Tuesday.
