Western Railway to augment 16 suburban services from 12- to 15-car from March 19
This augmentation will increase the total number of 15-car services from 211 to 227. The total number of suburban services on Western Railway will remain unchanged at 1,414. Out of the 16 augmented services, eight will operate during peak hours (four each in the morning and evening)

In a move to boost the carrying capacity and ease overcrowding for daily commuters on the Mumbai suburban network, the Western Railway (WR) has decided to augment 16 existing 12-car suburban services into 15-car trains with effect from Thursday, March 19.
According to a press release issued by Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, this augmentation will increase the total number of 15-car services from 211 to 227. The total number of suburban services on Western Railway will remain unchanged at 1,414. Out of the 16 augmented services, eight will operate during peak hours (four each in the morning and evening).
