The number of Covid-19 infections jumped past 10,000 on Tuesday, registering a rise of 35 per cent in 24 hours. The cases have been rising constantly even as the number of tests conducted daily remain almost the same. The test positivity rate (TPR) rose to 22 per cent, after 10,860 of the 49,661 samples tested positive. The need for a lockdown will arise if the daily cases rise beyond 20,000,” mayor Kishori Pednekar said on Tuesday. During the second wave, the maximum daily cases in the city had touched 11,163, on April 4.
