Ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has inspected 2,703 establishments under its ‘Special Fire Safety Campaign’ and taken action against 136 establishments under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006.

In an intensified drive ahead of the New Year 2026 celebrations on Wednesday, the fire brigade cracked down on establishments in Kamala Mills and Shakti Mills, confiscating eight illegal commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, 200 kg of coal, 135 litres of cooking oil, and other flammable materials.
