The northbound carriageway of Mumbai Coastal Road--from Marine Drive to Worli--was inaugurated on Monday by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar accompanied CM Shinde during the inauguration of the north-bound arm of the Dharamveer Swaraj Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Mumbai Coastal Road.

According to a PTI report, CM Shinde, Deputy CMs Fadnavis and Pawar rode a vintage Rolls Royce car to mark the formal inauguration.

The BMC had earlier said that the vehicular movement on the northbound carriageway of Mumbai Coastal Road will be allowed from Tuesday, June 11.

Akin to the southbound arm, which was opened for vehicular movement in March this year, the northbound carriageway of Mumbai Coastal Road will be operational between 7 am and 11 pm on weekdays.

Per the PTI report, the northbound carriageway will be operational only between Marine Drive and the vehicular interchange at Haji Ali. Officials were cited in the report stating that the operational length of the northbound carriageway of Mumbai Coastal Road will be around 6.25 km while the southern arm is operational on an eight-kilometre stretch.

Reportedly, at present, the southbound arm is catering to vehicles travelling between Worli and Marine Drive.

Further details awaited
