As India gears up for the rainy season, the Southwest monsoon has advanced in Mumbai from today, as per India Meteorological Department. Apart from Mumbai, southwest monsoon has also arrived in Konkan, some parts of Madhya Maharashtra.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) now passes through Lat. 20°N/ Long. 60°E, Lat. 20°N/ Long. 70°E, Dahanu, Pune, Gadag, Bengaluru, Puducherry, Lat. 14°N/ Long. 84°E, Lat. 17.0°N/ Long. 87°E, Lat.20.0°N/89.5°E, Lat.22.0°N/90°E, Lat.25.0°N/89°E, Siliguri and 27.50°N/88°E.

IMD Mumbai scientist Sushma Nair said, "Southwest monsoon has further advanced into most parts of Konkan (including Mumbai) and some parts of Madhya Maharashtra on June 11.”
According to IMD, conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon into some parts of north Arabian sea, remaining parts of Konkan, some parts of Gujarat state, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, entire Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, some parts of Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.
