Continuing its impressive run in national cleanliness rankings, Navi Mumbai has secured the third place in the prestigious Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024, following Indore (first) and Surat (second). The city has also made it to the elite ‘Super Swachh League’ — a newly introduced category by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs that recognises cities with consistent top-tier performance.

At an event held on Thursday at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner Kailas Shinde accepted the honours on behalf of the city. Maharashtra's Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal was also present at the ceremony.

The Super Swachh League is aimed at acknowledging cities that have made it to the top three at least twice in the past three years. Navi Mumbai not only qualified but stood out as the only city from Maharashtra in the 10 lakh-plus population category to receive this distinction.
