The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Maharashtra’s Thane district has awarded a total compensation of Rs 45.48 lakh to the families of two drivers who died in a road accident involving a tanker and a truck in 2010, reported news agency PTI.
In two separate judgments delivered on March 5, copies of which became available on Thursday, the tribunal directed the owner of the offending truck and its insurer to jointly and severally pay the compensation amounts along with interest at 9 per cent per annum from the date the petitions were filed.
